Cross post via our FB account.

Sue K. tells me our posts have dropped out of her feed! BOO Facebook!
We don't pay $14-$35 everytime we make a post.
As a result, 'magically' our posts don't appear to come up in peoples feeds as much as they used to...wow! Go figure.
Also, as we're not a political campaign or a foreign intelligence service, our traffic may be 'de-prioritised'.
COMRADES! Conspiracy theorists! We must....ah pfftt.
If a tree falls inthe forest, and I dont post about it on FB, the tree and me, still exist.
www.stormcellar.com.au is where I post a lot of stuff. But it tends to be less spur of the moment. Mobile apps for blogging, like FB are useful.
We've found that FB have been slowing/shaping or diminishing our stuff for a while. As we're content providers and our 'making of' content is here, free, we figure we do not need to pay FB while we provide them with an 'entertainment/content' service.
They call it advertising. I call it bait and switch, and some form of attempted return to 20th century media control. Except worse.
We pay to work.
You are our friends, they want to charge me to make sure you see our stuff. Like it's a phone call charge circa 1990. Or a postal fee for a letter.
Stormcellar and Facebook have a fundamental disagreement on our relationship.
We think they're a filing cabinet
They behave as if they're in charge of the world, because, here, they are.
They wish to be called a platform and yet they're not passive.
They are a publisher who demands payment for the ability to communicate.

Location Scouting, Development, Calendars

Did some location scouting this week. Ths pre production on this video clip has been long and I am now ready to just do it and the script be damned.

That's been a factor of the stuff we have made over the years, sometimes it's ok to abandon the original idea and make what you can. Not being able to shoot the vids as I had intended has reduced the number I have made...and increased the randomness of the clips I have made.

When something cool turns up, great, do it.

Dion is still keen on trying the slightly more complex narrative approach of the existing idea. Ben at the Commeda has basically shown that we don't exactly 'film' them so much as we start filming and then they do what they do.

Getting the ideal filming location has so far eluded me. Figuring out how to translate from the original idea to the practical 'here, do it with this' is on my mind.

I'm also distracted, happily, by new work.

I've been listening at some length to FOTB Terry Lyndon, I think he has a heck of a turn of phrase. Mr Wizard has lent some bass to his recent work and Terry is pumping material out.

By and large most of our muso mates have been productive in this strange time. And so with us too, and a good thing that is.

I am not sure that the world, even in our small, limited section of it, will ever go back to the way things were before Covid.

In some measure, that may be a good thing.

Everything that lives, changes. Nothing stays the same.

Australia is entering that end of year twilight - yet the competing force to burst out from 9 long months of confinement is upon us, at a time where risks still wait, and we exist here in this pacific bubble of safety.

As I am in no way capable of making sense of any of the 'gestures broadly at everything', I can look forward to completing work we have in the wings, starting new stuff and with luck, some shows out in the wild, soon.

Also: Thanks to Hugo. The Townie's facebook page AI didnt update the calendar but there are no stormcellar shows there until further notice, thanks to ...COVID.

Got a stage we can use? Now all we need is a location.

Hey, got a stage we can use for a videoclip? your fave fools in the Stormcellar & Fools In Progress are making a videoclip!

After some pandemic easing and weeks worth of development and script refinement, pre planning and drawing stick figures on paper, we're pretty much ready to go.

Sort of. We need a space. Got one? Let me know. A stage would be great.

No wonder I dont do live action clips that often. this takes ages!

It's the right time of year for development stuff. NSW can't work out if it is opening from COVID lockdown or getting ready for the christmas break.

If you'd like to support what we're doing of course, hit us up here: paypal.me/stormcellarband

From void to fullness - opening up continues

2020 has been a heckof a run ,and no it's not over yet.

Preserving our spirits during this time has been some work. and if I am going to borrow from anyone, I'm gonna start here:

It has taken some careful stewardship in strange times.

Change is a factor. Maybe the 20th Century hung on so long that it had to be repelled from the future, by the future, to lie dormant once more, its business past, its time finished.

The unexpected end of major COVID stuff here brings an opening of our local world at a time when it is usually closing down. The upending of old systems

And thus we go from Void to Fullness. To translate out of the realms of the symbolic, the tide rises finally and we once again set sail. Hurrah!

The Kid Stays In The Picture

No looking over your shoulder

All that's 'so' yesterday

I'm not trying to be unkind

but I simply dont have the time

to play those game some people gotta play

I got a part here for you

you could have written it yourself

your trailers already on the lot.

This aint your first rodeo

but you learn a thing or two

every time you go around the block

and you can hear them say

the kid stays in the picture

the kid still knows the score

and all the things

that he thought that he wanted

well he dont really want'em

anymore

To the casual observer

it might come as a surprise

when you dont play the part as written

but it seems that you've been getting

kind of wise

of late

you're not shy once you've been bitten

Looking like a fool while you're standing there

standing there a pickin' and a grinnin'

All the while she's not smiling at you

she's smiling at the scene and you're in it

and you can hear them say

the kid stays in the picture

the kid still knows the score

and all the things

that he thought that he wanted

well he dont really want'em

(SOLO)

Been so good to have you with us

you know we're all professionals here

Kiss Kiss

Mwah Mwah

We don't pay you to play

we pay for you to disappear

and you can hear them say

the kid stays in the picture

the kid still knows the score

and all the things

that he thought that he wanted

well he dont really want'em

the kid stays in the picture

he's seen this one before

and though he no longer cries

for the ending

he still sticks around

for the applause.
