It was awesome to see so many familiar faces last night at the Camelia Grove! A big shout to Fred now that he's back into town.
Boy have they revamped the Camelia Grove. A lot. I remember this pub from some time ago and I don't remember it being so swanky.
Hi to Lou, Andreas, Phil, Kiernan, Alan and Scott & the Girls for hanging out for the night. We had a lot of percussion talent in the house last night, with both deputies and the sheriff in attendance, Theo got up and played Tambourine and sang chorus vocals whilst Tony kept the drums under control and Henry made the sound work.
Continuing the work on Carls Chair this week, with Paul doing the slide overdubs and licks. Pete at Goose Studios (Obvious Plug For Good Dude) reckons this stuff is Folk. All it takes is one Mandolin and look what happens!
After much deliberation, listening and note making, we're back in the studio doing the fixes and overdubs for Carls Chair.
This has turned out to be the EP that could. Originally intended as our traditional side project between studio albums, this project has kept on chugging and looks like it will be another full album release, and if we can keep the pressure on, may be our second release for 2010.
So once again we headed into Goose Studios, where our excellent mate Mr Doherty started working through the minor fixes.
Its a fine balance to strike between preserving the live feel of the location sound but still fixing bits. We ran out of time during the location sessions, so we left off a few solo's and things we knew we could do in the studio. The temptation to fix and replace every error has been resisted, in order to keep the vibe of the adventure, but frankly, we're not above a little polishing (ie: Cheating).
Here's Paul working on a new Bass line for Cheap Hotel
We're now rolling along on a schedule to get this complete. Stay tuned as we keep working on it, and as always, if you want to hear the songs before the CD is out, come along to a live gig :-)
