OMG i wannnnnaaa make a clip for liquidator so baddd. I realised I have been doing multimedia clips for quite some time now. I've done live action, cgi, animation, experimental, ChatGPT based image generation ( I still resist calling it an intelligence), and now machine generated video.

I'm gonna see how I go.

Meanwhile, I am listening to 4 mastering samples and reviewing what I think I know.

I feel more comfortable with the process and it does seem like some more mixing is due on stuff that has already gone out as a single.

Nutshell - most music is gonna be streamed. Just how it is. Cd's are an on again off again things for me. I kinda like'em tho.

We pretty much know the majority of time people will come into contact with us are on YT. Spotify? well... I have thoughts.

The map is not the territory, so to speak. Meanwhile, what's going well is the ability to produce material at a rate that suits us. That's also a modern factor, perhaps one of the first times artists have been able to just get on with it.

That opportunity needs to be met with the practical aspects of getting it done. And so.

Once my singles are put to bed, then it's onto finishing the remainder. I have more than one idea of how this collection of songs could be structured, the answer isn't with us yet.

Taking a minute to do a video would be a welcome change of pace.

I have yet to release the singles, cos:
I don't like the fade duration and have been back and forth.

I am not happy with my understanding of loudness levels.

I have been testing album mastering.
I have been comparing tracks by engineers I respect, like AJ, who mixed Defiance.

I did this last time too so don't worry. I am pushing things a little and I respect that I am at the point of being able to do a bad job by trying to do too much, and at the same time, I kinda have a bit of a vibe so that's worth listening to.

I'm hoping to do the best job I am capable of at the moment, so I am i think very reasonably a god fearing man at this point with regards to mixing.

My target date is a year from Basilisk so by end of January max I hope - with the following targets. It'll be ok if we change our plans, but here's the hope list.

'Big time in newtown' being ready.
'lie to me' 'where am i' being ready.

Everything else needs finishing - some vox, some lyrics, some everything. It's all doable but in its own time.

I've still got the instrumental album (OMG) and videos to make, including some stuff from our mini tour. Oh. Happy Holidays. Almost forgot.

Started putting all of them on the timeline for the album version aaaand...

I got some work to do. We're following along the 'top down mixing' process we used for 'Basilisk' . Basically, in this case, since the software changed, it's upped the ante on the loudness wars. I got some work to do to understand it let alone fix it.

Over the next few days i'll be doing art. Sample cover for BMWY.

While I am doing that imma think on it and then go. There's such a thing as perfectly imperfect.

Need an order. Theo is the start. I'll post some working versions as we start to move towards a full album. not every song will come out as a single.

Getting final input on Psych Surf and By Myself.

It's the minor tweak stage, then I reckon release'em as singles.

Mr Wizard thinks I oughtn't release two singles in the same timeframe for reasons that I can only see as based in 20th century thought. I don't think anyone gives a hoot as to how/when a song comes out, nor do I think there's a 'right' way to do stuff at present.

I'm guided by when the thing is finished, at which point, release the thing into the wild.

As I can't answer the question of what goes where yet, i'm fixing to finish the songs and then work the rest out later. I think there's gonna be a flurry of work in the quiet end of year/early new year period

Singles are easier because album tracks have as they're played alongside other tracks so it has to sound cohesive which means doing so detailed mastering work and I am such a neophyte at this stuff.

There's no time demand for completion other than the fact that we like to work at this speed and there's plenty of other material that would benefit from some attention, which happens when we finish one lot of songs and move to the next.

I find the Greenhouse process fascinating, as the songs develop at their own pace and come out when they're ready. Gathering the seed ideas and nurturing them has produced some good work over the years and it's more like we're recognising a process than choosing one.

Expect a couple of singles soonish :)
