Roscoes Boogie on Musicfortroops.com this week

Details
Created: 16 December 2008
UPDATE: Roscoes Boogie is available as a free download for all service personnel at www.musicfortroops.com. Join up, sign up and Seasons Greetings.!

We're releasing the pre mix version of Roscoe's Boogie this week on Musicfortroops.com. It will probably be different to the final album version . Mrose has been developing the solo over the last bunch of gigs and wants to swap the existing one.

We'll put up a copy here for our mates at Fire support base and post a link as soon as we've got one.

Just a quick note - the comment function still works but its now for registered users and doesnt auto submit the comments. I'll look at changing it back to as open and anonymous as possible as soon as I can figure out what SPAM prevention steps I can take.

Paul pointed out that his slide guitar tips page was festooned with World Of Warcraft Gold Mining SPAM...

Not that I actually object to that...but on principle...(sigh)...

Slide Guitar Tips #3

Hi slide freaks,
here are some chord shapes I use playing 12 bar based blues in A Minor, while guitar is actually still tuned to A major.
I have included 2 chors useful for a lasty tasty chord in the turn-around.
E flat 6 (you can hear it in the standard "Stormy Monday")
and Gsus4+ flat 9 (a bitch to play in standard tuning)

Of course the real test comes when you have to take a solo. You must make sure to mute the 2nd string (C#) if you a barring across with the bottleneck or play single note lines making sure keep the third minor. You can also try playing patterns further up the neck so as to avoid that pesky 3rd.

Dont forget you can use a capo to shift these shapes to a higher key if you want. Personally I dont like to capo higher than the third fret for slide work as it gets a bit skinny sounding.
cheers,
Paul

Chicken Soup Required - Last Week's Gig Reports!

I think Roscoe finally found the WMD's he was sent to look for. They were lurking near my house and waiting to pounce on my sinuses this week. Typical its-hot-weather-so-here's-a-cold type stuff.

Only the power of Chemists Choice purple pills kept me going through the three gigs this week. yikes. Oh, and a bunch of tissues. So if this gig report seems a bit of a blur, thats because it was. I think the other guys should be blogging this one.
