No greater praise than being there. Thanks to our guests for the Everywhere Feels Like Home launch.

I was working on the multimedia stuff right up until the moment i left for the show last night. I got pretty close to what I was aiming for, so that was a bonus.

Sadly Jo couldnt make it (bummer) so we couldn't do helplesssly hoping and I had to sing Push Me Away.

So yes, OK, I measure the result by how close it gets to Original Intent, but I also stop for the gratitude moment.

Geoff and Bukhu have joined us for this mission simply because they're into it. They like the song and it has given them a chance to stretch, as it does for us.

I was touched when Bukhu explained to the crowd that he liked playing with us, liked the song and in particular, that he liked the words 'everywhere feels like home'.

Re-settling in Sydney all the way from Mongolia is a big change and he is proud of his adopted country. We're lucky to have his talent.

This song, this concept, meant something to him. That's so cool.

I got a big response frorm the crowd last night when I pointed out that only in Sydney, only at this gig, would you find a Jazz Bassist, a Sydney Dance Company Cellist, a Horse fiddle and throat singer, an Indy guitarist, a Slide player, harp player and a dutchman all together on stage.

No greater praise than their presence and their involvement. We're very fortunate. We say thank you to our guests and to everyone who joine dus last night.

nice photo rosie.

We have people for that. We are those people. Also sympathy for the postman.

I forgot how much 'stuff' there is to do with putting out a CD.

I still have several days worth of video from our last tour to cut and upload oh yeah and we're doing a live version of Everywhere feels like home next week I have to finish some video for. Did I mention that? I didn't, did I.

You know why? I am in Logistics Land. I hear tales of an age where someone would say, 'No, don't risk a paper cut, 'we have people for that'.'

Of course in the age of the self propelled musician, we are those people.

we are those people

Sounds like a brilliant new Stephen King Premise, to whit:

'A band, releasing an album, finds themselves transported to the universe of...the Mail Room'

I say Thankyou Frank, our local Haberfield Postage Agent because he is the BOSS. He's been sending out our stuff for OMG 8 years. He knows how to tag'em, bag'em and get them there, when I can't remember which form is the customs form, or how to lick a stamp.

We both comiserated today that the days of the CD are numbered, that so much communication has gone digital and that we may be sending less and less stuff. 'Putting me out of a job' he says mirthfully, but there's a truth to it.

Sympathy for the postman.

Meanwhile, lick, stick, pack, send. mmm...gluey.

(EDIT: Top Professional Tip - Don't lick the self-stick-pre-adhesive ones, they taste funny)

Howdy folks.

I've been so busy working on the album after the one we're releasing right now that I totally forgot to stop and smell the roses. The Sage Larson reminds us:

Cow.jpeg

Yep. EFLH is a downright good piece of work. We're fussy perfectionists of one sort or another and we've spent our time looking at the things we could do better. Ok, maybe that's just me. Nope, mostly me. k. Maybe Rosie too. A little.

Ah.

Also Mr Wizard.

Oh and Theo.

But not Bill. He's so cool.

I took a few days to listen to the whole thing, go to whoah, after Lynchy had mastered it.

I fricking love it.

I tried giving the guys some praise at rehearsal the other day, with a whole Durante-esque attaboy and they all pretty much pooh-poohed it and told me to hurry up and start singing the next song.

Philistines.

EFLH is another weird milestone on a voyage pretty much sign-posted by our willingness to do Whatever Sounds Good, damn the torpedos, full hamster ahead! Yes, the going got weird and the weird turned pro. Get used to it.

I've had a number of emails from our mates in France getting down on the vibe of the album. That's nice. they could do with a breather over there. I've also been driving around with it in the Sydney heat, listening.

I think the guys should be proud of getting to their 7th album whilst still liking one another. Thats a milsetone in itself.

They should also take a moment of pride from the other musicians who chose to be a part of it 'cos they dug it too.

That's the best kind of compliment, like when we got stagejacked by KC Kelsey this year in Kansas because 'you mother******s are playing your mother******* asses off' and he wanted to be in on it.

That's right, the greatest compliment you can get is when other muso's want to be part of it because they feel something too.

We're not making a fuss over Everywhere Feels Like Home because we're too caught up in doing the new work, but we should be. Both making a fuss and caught up in the new. that's what drives us.

We're lucky to be able to do it, fortunate to have the bonds of fellowship that attach us to one another and to the work we do.

I like this album. I like it a lot. Imma let you finish, but imma go listen to it again.
