Meanwhile in the Cellar

Four hours of changing the key, merging ideas and deciding that we're not sure if this works.

Good times.

Mr Wizard challenged me to come up with something better than La la la (14 of them. I counted). Challenge accepted.Words. So many choices.

16 YBTM

For reasons less important than the thought, I'm reminded we're still at war and have been for 16 years.

Roscoe's Boogie is now 10 years old as a song. We've been at war all that time.

When we wrote it I figured it would be relevant a few years, then an artefact.

ye gods.

I heard a good sentence today. We could do with some peace.

Calling Cellar Dwellers

The current project is all about local influences. I've put the word out. Recording sessions are happening. Ask your local cellar feller and come along to a session.

Ding Dong the CD's Dead, it's been in the bin for years.

Along with

My Cd Walkman

My old cassettes

Dad's old 8 track

and 1/2 inch'

and wax cylinders

and clay pots and

cuneiform.

How's it hanging Gilgamesh?

Here in the Stormcellar Experimental Thought bunker we read words what got wrote on the big electronic wall.

CD's on consignment at Target.

Ah the passing of formats.

Farewell Mr Floppy.

Those born into the digital age with ubiquitous WIFI will ask 'WTF is with those people hanging on to formats'.

Unless...

there's no signal.

I note with amusement, that 'vinyl' will be guaranteed shelf space for two more years.

Heh. I love too many people who love vinyl to be too snarky, but I will give a wry smile at the Vinylista out there going YEAH I TOLD YOU WE'D OUTLAST CD'S.

I love digital.

Love it love it love it. It's easy. It's fast. It's got flaws you can festishise about later when it's replaced by QUASI DIMENSIONAL UNDERFLUN...yeah you get it.

Plus ca change, plus ca meme.

Music. Been with us for some time. Will be with us a while longer. Formats will change. Formats influence music.

The digital age is a new frontier. How long is an album. What is an album. Does it have a point? Is there such a thing?

Is any collection of songs in any format an album?

Who knows.

Anyway, Video is the new audio.

Phase 2 begins for the next batch, rehearsal, then live. Phase 1 is not entirely complete. It gets completed during phase 2. Also during phase 3.

Maybe it's better to see it as a 'Process'.

Cellar Dwellers note, I'm opening up the sessions to come and have a listen. We're soaking up local community vibes.

Flamenco test next week (yay)

I'm awaiting votes on the EDM remixes and watching as Facebook starts morphing into Myspace.

We DO live in interesting times.

Low slow & steady and a Sydney album

As we await the Chinese New year and the commencement of another cycle, we're moving slowly through change both internally and externally.

That and a Bitcoin will get you a packet of Ramen.

Plugged into the online Zeitgeist, we're in turns amazed, appalled and then amazed & appalled. Has it ever been otherwise.

Our response is to make stuff. A good response says me.

Looks like the next batch are ready to test. As I listen to what they're making I start to hear a little of where it's at.

Bill got me some light reading. We've opened every door we can to ideas.

Local influences.

No rush.

More soon.

Yes!

Got the first Flamenco fusion test rehearsal booked.

Yay.

SC11 songs are coming out. The next three are moving through development into rehearsal.

It's hot down in Sydney. Humid. Hothouse huh? Maybe it's helping stuff grow.
