Found out today that two places we have visited recently to play music have been under bushfire threat. The breadth and scale of this burn is beyond living ken.
We stopped in Yackandandah on our Melbourne Tour last year. Thats on fire.
We recorded at Mangrove Mountain just over a week ago and the area nearby is on fire (peats ridge area).
These two locations are bloody far away from one another. To drive between them would take 10+ hours.
The number of fatalities has gone into triple digits, which, for a reasonably small population base such as Australias, is a lot of people.
For those of you looking in from abroad on our smouldering island, we're in a little bit of shock. We pride ourselves on being able to survive our environment, but it's a harsh mistress.
To the fire-eys, the CFA, SES and volunteers, thank you and bless you. For the survivors and their families, we send our deep sympathy.
