Big ups to Carlo, Karen, Nicole and all the Rotarians who make this work.

F--k.

I wrote this on FB.

Meh.

One of the truly great elements of being a muso, and knowing other muso's, is how they come together when things are tough, or sad, or to mourn a loss and to celebrate what we have had together.

There's a certain cameraderie that comes in all forms of human endeavour, in the synchronisation of effort, in watching the magnificence of what we can achieve together.
For us, that includes the people come come to offer their energy and enthusiasm to what we do. We will never play better than when we play for you.
We celebrate DC and our other friends who have gone to the Great Gig In the Sky.
It makes it meaningful each time we do it, to know that there simply are a finite number of days where you get to say, today I will play.
Godspeed DC Bellamy.

That's two of the participants in Kansas City Gold gone, first Millage and now DC. It was good to reconnect with some old mates, a reminder that we have never taken this for granted. Our time in KC was filled with Adventures For Later Autobiography, but I wouldn't swap the experiences for the world.

I remember DC giving me the side-eye when we had to change into stage clothes in the disabled toilet at a gig in Newcastle, as it was beneath his dignity. I remember returning the side-eye in KC when we were getting changed, once again, in a bathroom.

DC had a heck of a life, beyond the measure of all but the small number of fortunate few. Although maybe not as well known as he deserved, nor as well known as he believed befitting to his talent, DC was an authentic R&B musician, writer, singer and bandleader.

We send our condolences to his family.

Bah humbug this self awareness stuff can take a hike.

I wanna bitch and moan about...meh. Nah.

Things are going ok. Ok except for the flute. But we are gonna let that one go through to the keeper.

I can't really do too much more unless I get parts, including those from me. On that front, I feel like they're baking.

I think I'm only a good hook away from finishing Song A and song B well.....if it makes it it makes it.

There's no rush really. Ok not exactly because it would be nice to have these out of the workshop so to speak.

So I'm waiting. Found some new web stuff to mess with. Might make a video while I am waiting.

No flute, Theo.

So if I havent finished writing the lyrics for these two songs, it's either finish or let go or some combo. or wait. AAAAAHHH!!!

I mean it's not as if I haven't got pages worth. It's just they weren't the right bowl of porridge.

I'm tryna get it done before the bears eat me. But of course, there are only imaginary bears.

Meanwhile, there are still elements of tracking still to come. Replacement vox (pitchy), replacemement guitar (untuned string nuisance), repalcement vox (improved lyrics...improved LOL).

2 Sax parts. Maybe 3? Paul doesnt want 3.

Now Theo wants flute. NO FLUTE.

I am waiting on the ghost ships from Briar Patch. the fixes from mick and I have just about mixed this thing as much as I can.

We have not spent as much time doing weird stuff to an album as this one, and that includes Signposts.

Patience grasshopper, paaaatience.

So kick back cos this thing is taking its time again LOL.

Good session this week. Percussion done thought we'd do some vox and then...I remembered I hadn't sent the files to re-record and replace the guide vox i did in The Cooler.

Which is fine. Because I still havent finished writing these other two songs. Will they make it? Who's in charge of this bus?

On the plus side? The Mixes! I love this stuff. I mean I'd be glad to hand the reins over again but this whole process has taken us to even weirder destinations.

Probably put another single out first. Maybe? Dunno. I just need to do another mix :P I hope to share it soon cos I am digging some of these new songs.
