Howdy Folks.

Time for another free wireless update. What a day. Didn't have time to post stuff before our last two gigs.

BEEES

Root beer attracts them. What is it with Bees and this tour?

Dickey James Schools Me Again

The Dickey James band were on fire at Birdys. Wow.

Ken Tucker is a Bad Ass Player

Got the chops.

Travellin Mac is our guiding saint.

God bless you Mr Novak

Garlic Festival was Amazing

Every now and again you have a day that forms the foundation of a memory. To be aware of it whilst it's occurring is a gift. Thank you Dave.

Jim Connor

There can be no greater honor than to be mentioned in dispatches. Jim has a heart as big as a planet. It was a rare pleasure.

The Hoosier Darlings

I got footage. you'll see it when I get a chance. Awesome.

Notes on a day

At the end of all things there is nothing left but love. When you feel it, there's nothing else.

We love you too dear reader.

More when I get back from seeing Jeffs water buffalo. No I'm not kidding.

Good Mroning and welcome to the Stormcellar News Network, the only channel dedicated to stuff what happens to the boys (and Jo) whilst on tour.

This Mornings Headlines:

Mark from Spirit Wear in Fort Wayne is a Legend

Getting that custom shirt for Mac done at 0 notice, picking up a tshirt and driving it to the gig? Bravo Sir, Bravo. Yes I'm plugging his business, go see him for Stuff in Fort Wayne, like printing.

Bill Lupkin Schools Me Again

I had to play harp last night in front of another master player. Bugger. Bill very kindly joined us for some songs. I got schooled. I know that phrase is rather poor English, speaking of 'schooling', but it remains true. Tone, skills, taste, a true Master of the instrument. Thank you Mr Lupkin. I am totally going to rip some of those phrases off.

Tommy Lee Drives 12 Hours to do our sound tonight

What can I add to that? Thanks Tommy Lee.

Zico is one funny Guy

X is quick but Zico is quicker. Thanks for coming out to see us. See you in KC.

Hey Mo, Mr Balt seems like a genuinely  nice bloke

I know you read the blog and Mark came out to see us. I ought to run a personals column.

You can get good eats at 3 am in Fort Wayne

Thanks to the gang at Henrys.

I miss my Harpmaster 3000

I left my custom harp case back in Oz 'cos it was too bulky. I miss it. I have a miniature replacement case and it's just not working. Harps scattered across the floor, can't find the key, ARRRGH!!!

I love these guys

Travelling with this irregular outfit of miscreants remains a pleasure and their onstage performance are truly a thing of beauty. It's a peculiar world with random events that take us away from the course we chart. Whether we're headed in the correct direction, or following the GPS down some obscure back alley, I am in good hands.

575 Road Deaths And Climbing in Illinois

When we arrived it was 522. They post it on the sigboards as you drive down the freeway. Take it easy out there folks.

Right, coffee finished, free wifi burning, time to google a breakfast nook, round up the cellar fellers (and lass) and go out into the sunshine. Where's the famous stormcellar weather? Hmmm.

Stay tuned for more headlines when we have'em.

A song for the Rock River

Details

Created: 29 August 2014

I've been listening to this for two days now and I love it...

What happens when we go on tour? This happens. With love to Dee and Becky. We'll get a studio version of this song done at some point, maybe soon, but meanwhile, here's the live, unfiltered iPhone mic recording from beside the Rock River at the Blackhawk Trail Lodge. http://youtu.be/rUBnC5TBR5Q.

For you lyric freaks (MJEB what wrote'em)

Sliding down Rock River

A feather past a log

Somewhere they wont find me

Find me a place to get me gone

And Rock River keeps on Rockin on

High Above Rock River

Hunter spies his prey

in the hush of the waters

hear the spirit of the river say

i will still be here when you are gone

Rock River keeps on rockin on

Down by the Rock River

Feel my seasons change

Fill my eyes with water

Different

each time

yet the same

The only constancy I know

is change

and when you are gone

I will remain

Let the river take you where you goin'

Rock River keeps on Rockin on.

FTR its Bill on Mandolin  (far out man) , Mr Wizard on Slide, Rosie on Guitar, Jo and me singing and Theo on bongos. The atmos sound is the Rock River itself.

Did I mention we wrote a Soul song too? Wait til ya hear it. Jo's gonna sing it.

Been a productive few days.

Inidiana here w comes!

Howdy Folks, from the Byron Public Library in (SHH!!!) sorry...illinois

I gotta type quietly, the librarian's lookin at me..

Ahem.

So much happening, I'll keep it to the headlines.

Old Town Pub goes off.

Happy Birthday Carla and Tall Paul. Thanks Tina.

The Rhtyhm Roosters featuring last years Stormcellar Tour bassist Paul E-Recht (don't ask thats what they call him now) were great. Alex got up to jam with us during our set. A strong night.

Mo is an angel

And knows where good pickles can be obtained.

Cesar Spoils Angus

But SIR are the best equipment provider bar none. Now sit Angus. Down boy. Down!

Crossroads Festival Awesome

The rain came bucketing down, the crowd was drenched, Theo was almost washed away. It dried out. Van bogged down. Pushed by volunteers. Music all day and night.

The acts were spectacular. Bravo to Mr Jones for curation

There are Two South Bend Roads

GPS problems almost created a disaster before our set. We got there just in time.

Rosie, Master of Bees

Rosie fought off a bee during a solo and nailed the solo. Boss move.

MJEB Gets Schooled

I was lucky enough to join the Joe Filisko harp workshop at the festival and picked up three new techniques. Wow.

Soul Food Is Good Food

Love to Gary and Gayle at the Authentic Smokehouse in Rockford. Mindblowing ribs and pulled pork.

Ms Jo Sparkles

Watching as Jo soaks in the culture and the adventure is a joy. All the crowds want her to sing more.

Songwriting produces Bumper Crop

After all the effort, planning etc to get here, the sudden release of tension brings out five new songs in two days, including a song we hope Jo will sing for us.

Rock River Keeps On Rocking On.

Dee and Bill provided the basis for one of the new songs, cut beside the river. It's good.

Our Mojo Is Strong

The storms have been in abatement until we arrived. Winds, rain, weather, all happening. It has even followed ua from Byron up to Wisconsin, the storm travellin ahead of the stormcellar. I'm not saying we're causal, but it's certainly a good circumstantial case...

Bill and I watch a pre tornado

Twist, twirl and...evarporate...spooky

Cheeseheads have big hearts

Thanks to Dave Potter for having us up at the Monday night session at Sara's Pub. Wisconsin-ites are the most polite and enthusiastic applauders, not to mention buyers of CD's Of course, if Jo smiles at you you'll just hand over the money.. Go packers!

I could tell you more but there's so much to go absorb. We're heading for Indiana, via Chicago, and we best be making a move. Hopefully I'll have data reception when we head towards town and might get some pics up online. I have some footage of some of the great players we've seen so far.

Stay tuned folks, this tour is just getting started!
