Rosie's All Colours Blue Tour Photos Part 3: What we do off stage ...

Howdy!

Not all the music making took place on stage in front of peoples. We spent plenty of time in many environments writing, rehearsing and sometimes even entertaining our kind hosts. Here are some photos I took while away from playing the shows, creating new stuff.

At The Blackhawk Trail Lodge on the banks of Rock River - we were either working on You Can't Push Me Away or Rock River. You can't see it in these photos but the area is just one of the most peaceful and inspiring places we've been to and it got the creative spark glowing brightly. Speaking of glowing, on one of the evenings as we were writing by the river there were fireflies flying around us - just magical.

Here are some shots of the playing - taken on the back porch of some dear friends' place in Kansas City ... you know who you are:

Busy time off screen. Waiting for the audio transfer system to process Rock River.

In the interim it's back to El Bloggo. For newbies: comments pics and then some vids. For reg'lar 'cellar dwellers, you know the drill.

Day 15 (Continued) into Day 16

We arrived in KC and wound up at the Ship with Dj D-Wayne spinning disks until the wee small hours and some singing with Danny Cox.

A shout out to APRA, the Australian Performing rights organisation. Using Skype on my newly acquired phone I was able to call them in the we small hours of KC time to ask obscure questions about song registration. Of course it was normal daylight hours back home but they managed to understand my weird 3am ramblings and occasional Ip telephony drop outs.

Roscoe almost dispatched yet another Bass Player until he realised he needed him for the Liquid Courage gig in two nights time.

 Day 16. Geomancy

IMG_7489.gif

L&L hosted us once again. Louis has all but convinced me that Geomancy is real, the magic of certain places.

He aslo filled me in on the practical aspects of Aztec Human Sacrifice, but that's another story entirely.

KFFI

The wonderful Mr Jason Vivone invited us in to KFFI for a live song or two, here's Bill and Jo in the Green room (note it was just a green room)

IMG_7503.gif

I spotted this on the drive and my hopes were dashed when I found out it was a mobile phone dealer. Homesick for...cricket??...oh dear oh dear.

Rehearsing at L&L's - puppy optional

Theo and I took a wander out to review potential studios

Raiders of the Last Arts -or - What are they up to now and do you want to volunteer?

It was beastly hot on the journey from Cairo. if not for the constant stream of G&T's from the little man with the funny red hat, it would have been intolerable. I mopped my brow with Fa Fan's silk handkerchief until it became indistinguishable from the thick air. I let it slip into the Nile where I am certain it was at once swallowed by a crocodile. We decamped near the ancient town of Marrickville to begin our search.

Lord Flattenbubbly was most anxious to get to the dig site which had been cleared away by his workers, revealing the entrance.

What wonders would lurk within?

IMG_8730.gif

Dropping out of character...ahem.. Mr wizard and I went Prop Shopping for some videoclip concepts.

Fossicking through the back rooms and basements of Sydneys Film Prop, Recycling and Event suppliers is one of the fun bits in life. The ideas that come to mind as you see random stuff...

Regular 'Cellar Dwellers know that we make our own vids when we can, with what we find, with volunteers and random ideas.

This often means making what we can, rather than what we logically should. However, we have scripts for vids for most of the songs and whenever the planets align, we go get one done.

Sometimes the planets need a little help aligning, or we have to make something completely different from initial planning. We're glad to have at least a small movie industry in Old Sydney Town and a great big arts community to go raiding for treasures and ideas. Shoutouts to Jason and Michael.

And yeah, we'll be making some clips. Wanna be in one? Contribute? use the contact form or email me (hey if you're on the newsletter u got my email addy!).

Jo's with us for the last weekend until Tamworth (sad face) and we're pulling out new stuff again.

So to remind you, we're out there having fun with the whole music thing.

if you find yourself thinking 'hey, that's my whole deal right there, the music and fun thing' then our states coincide and we should necessarily enjoy your company, tomorrow night, in Oatley.

See you there.
