Anyone for a trip to snow country! All right. 4-6, sat 22nd, Federal Hotel, Nimmitabel.

Captain Sam inspired me with his nautical adventures and now we're getting all Boaty.
We're hunting around for locations to record the 5D project. Larry sent me this suggestion, far out, what a beauty.
We've had a real awareness of location and sound, ever since Spacejunk - remember that old ricketty wooden hall at mangrove mountain with that glorious under-gained recording on wonky analogue tape...ahh...good times.
Hired Guns was worked from the drum sound up, from that big wooden reception room at Bawley Point.
For this next project we're going to work from the guitars out - at least for the first 2 D's in the project.
We'll record the guitar in situ, using the atmos and ambience....and then record everything else dry cos otherwise it'd interfere.
Mr Wizard and I did some initial location scouting today.

As per usual, not all of these ideas will work, but the fun's in the trying. Stay tuned.
I came so very close to getting the next project started yester/to/day.
Gear?

Check.
Mick P was standing by to do location sound, and then....

I was able to get several factors simultaneously, but not quite put it all together.
Of course you know what that means.

I don't quite know why, but I am completely stoked to be doing this new project.
OH! It has a working title! Dust/Dusk/Drums/Darkness. I'll bang on about it in depth later. Suffice to say, yay, make stuff. Fun.
Notes on 461
Dave has a fine high register and stepped up for 45 when the solo act didn't front. Far out.
RESPECT THE DAVE. I hope he'll come sing with us.

Thanks to all the folks who joined us for the night, shout outs to Ross for visiting with us.
Also a shout out to the facial hair on Steve J, what loves has a man for his daughter's hair dressing career than to let her mess with his facial fur.
Ah, and lastly but but not leastly:
When you're out at a gig, Don't Be A Dick.

Seriously.
We have the love for a lot of different people, some of whom get unfairly judged for who they associate with and what they wear.
When we say we're your friends in the stormcellar, we actually mean it. All we care about is how you treat others, that's about it.
How you get on with the rest of your life is not our business :-).
But if you do stuff that's not cool to others, when we're present, we're going to say something or do something.
Because: How you treat others matters.
If you came to a show, had a medical problem, we'd stop the show, call for help, do what was right.
When you come out to the show, you do what's right too. That's the covenant between friends.
Keep it kind.It just makes sense.
All are welcome, but each are respected, that's how this works, that's the cost of entry.
It's hard to write this stuff and not sound preachy, but f--k it, it's my damn blog, and I'm going to clue you in, simply.
If it the behaviour wouldn't fly, in my living room, it won't fly at our show. No more, no less than I'd do in your lounge room.
Humans, we're complex.
Lots of love.
Yay. 10/13.
Theo's put out a proposed order, I've got art, we're almost there.
A few tweaks to make. I've had no luck coming up with something for the middle of 'how it feels to win'.
Well I have but it's all been Blah.

Spoken word? Said everything I wanted to say in the lyrics.
Poetry? Asked Rick. Nah, Rick wants me to do my bloody job :-) No letting me off the hook. Bugger.
SoundFX? Pink Floyd beat you to it. Rosie gave me some interesting samples but despite my attempts and Clever Sampling, it turned out a bit naff.

So I'm sussing out some other possibilities.
Meanwhile I'm trying to get the first recording day organised for the next project. Might be as soon as Sunday. Oh yeah Happy Easter.
Right.
Got a show tonight so I'm off.
Woot.
Did you know that over the last 10 years we have uploaded 700+ different youtubes - not including the live streams, vids to FB and Vimeo and....(sigh)
I've still got a bunch of scripted clips for songs and a whole bunch of ideas that I have....let go of :-)
The boys still don't like appearing in the clips. Mr Wizard thinks only Live Performances count, watching us Mime the songs seems....pointless?
I dunno.
I've always tried to tell a story within the clips, and I thought we might be one of the rare bands where the guy who writes the lyrics, makes the clips.
But as I don't always get to make what I want...hang on...let me rephrase - as it is not viable to have 30 Foot Dragons in EVERY scene (awwww),

Budget limitations have encouraged us to be more creative.
As we continue to celebrate Year 10 in the Stormcellar by Making More Stuff, and after a pretty decent bit of fun on Reddit, I've put the word out, looking for people to try their hand at a clip, or send me some footage to make one with, inspired by one of our songs.
It could be brilliant, it could be 'alternative brilliant'

I might try posting the scripts for some of the unmade clips as well.
Who knows how this will end? But it's going to be fun finding out.
A shout out to the ANONS who have volunteered so far.
Message me via the contact form here if you want in on the fun. Pick a song, shoot some footage, send it to me via dropbox or something and I'll use it in a clip, or make one yourself and show me what you did. I'm having all the fun! You have a computer, a camera and an imagination. Join in if you feel like it. Or not! We accept Random here.

9:30pm start, free entry, support band, Sat 15th April, Hawkesbury Hotel, Windsor.
