A big hey to Russ, Snowy, Greg, Jackie and the folks who joined us for our first residency spot at the Pendle Hill Inn, with typical stormcellar weather outside. Aloha also to Pete G, Mrs Pete and Guests!

It looks like we're breeding microphones, from this mating pair we might get a litter of Sennheisers...

We also had the good fortune to have our very own soundo last night, cheers Mitch!

Mitch and Bill sorting out a mix that doesn't involve someone on stage doing it. OMG! Super Deluxe Tycoon Wash!

We have a NEW set order (see I Ching of sets, Paul's article) which is still...being tested. The middle bracket now has many more mikes, Di's and extra Things With Strings (is that a Banjo in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?) as Paul has gone Mandolin Mad. MAAAAD!!!!

The set now truly is a tour through the blues and roots, ranging from the alleys to the country (where alleys are few and far between).

Did I mention Typical Stormcellar Weather?

With Nuevo Retro almost out of the studio we're busily introducing stuff which will be coming up on the next recording. I still need the words for Hollow Tree on paper (getting close, but not memorised yet) and I keep thinking Lucky Streak starts with verse two.

That means over the next bunch of gigs, weird stuff will happen as we keep messing with the arrangements, lyrics yadda yadda, plus there are two candidates coming into the set now, Company of a Friend and Welcome to the fold. They may make it, they may die a dismal death in the furnace of live testing. Muahaha! Fiendish! Excruciating! Blaupunkt!

Last night a few people started to sing along with stuff they they had only just heard. that's pretty nifty. I heard a few choruses of Swamp monster after we had finished the song, and even Drink you off my mind (the black sheep of Nuevo Retro) got a rousing chorus.

But to keep it real, we are still on the bottom of the bill - but in the most important place. On the back of the toilet door!

We'll be back at the PHI on a regular basis (see gig guide) over the next few months and it looks set to be a good ongoing gig with a great vibe.

More mixing and possible mastering starting this week (mutant fingers crossed) plus we have a gig in Stockton on Saturday and at the Bald Rock in Balmain on Sunday.
