Starting off in Newtown on Friday night, we had a big weekend of gigs!

Busy weekend indeed. Friday night saw us in Uber Hip Newtown, where the alternative is mainstream.

It was reasonably busy with the trendy Shush bar on the 2nd floor (is it a bar?) and the Newtown RSL played host to some good bands supporting a good cause. Full marks to Chris Soto for trying to raise awareness for beyondblue. It was good to be a part of it and I think the other bands had as much fun as the people who were listening.

We were fortunate to be joined by Tony Boyd on drums this weekend (Theo is healing nicely but still in need of some downtime) and Tony ably took up the reins, despite having his sticks mysteriously vanish between getting out of the car and starting the gig. Borrowing some spare hot roads from My Giant Said, T-Bird banged happily away for the night!

Saturday saw us heading out to the Pendle Inn, on a glorious spring day...

...where we were once again joined by Snowy, Prune, Lisa, Geoff and the other folks who have made us welcome there.

The highligh of the evening for me was watching the Typical Aussie Male get down and strut his stuff. We saw you shaking it Frank! Of course, some dancing is more memorable, such as Prune's crab dance:

but my favourite of the night is the gentleman I will refer to as Random Dude.

and when I was trying to film some of Rosie's smoking boogie solo, he had to get in on the act:

Yep, by the end of the night, they were whirling, twirling and all things in between.

Which brings us to Sunday and another glorious day, this time down by White Bay at the Bald Rock Hotel.

Its a gorgeous spot and it was a classic sunday arvo gig. The Bald Rock is a great local gig - I saw posters up for the Shane Pacey trio (of Bondi Cigars fame) which should be good, as well as plenty of other local talent like our good mates in Finn.

I had expected that by the third day of playing that we should be in good form and I wasn't disappointed. The songs from Carls Chair are settling nicely into the set and we may have to start introducing some of the other ones, in order to keep the refining process going.

Big thanks to T-Boid for his work this weekend, and a special shout out to Chris Turner for dropping in to visit.

That was a good, solid weekends worth of playing. We've only got the one gig next weekend (lightweight huh?) but we're in Carls Chair Post Production...but I'll blog about that separately.
