UPDATE TIME CHANGES

Entropy is a factor!

Tonight at Frankies 9:30 start

SUNDAY 2PM START at Windsor. A lot earlier.

2019-Jan3-gigposters.jpg

This weeks shows now include 50% Jo Fitzgerald, which is 100% higher than shows with No Fitzgerald. But that's 50% relative to number of shows. Relative to percentage of Jo at a show she's at, she is 100% Jo at shows to which she goes.

Yay. Today was the Band Moot.

In the 4th Quarter we usually do a review and planning session.

Today was the day to present the information to the assembled crew and to seek their authorisation for the coming voyages.

The Band Moot.

Thanks to pre-organisation work from Mr Wizard and T-Bou (Bill's new nickname, 'the best of us' "-) we got through the review and approval session the fastest we have done so far.

No I am not going to tell you what they agreed to. Stick around and find out. We we try a lot; not everything works :-), and if no one knows, then it didn't happen. Even if it did/didn't happen. Who knows. It's QUANTUM!!!

The State of the Union was simple; In 2018 we released two albums, played a bunch of shows and started a festival. We made videos. Drove. Went to places. We hung out.

According to detailed research and internal band polling, it turns out we like to work, write, record, travel and hang out, especially with awesome musician friends and cellar dwellers.

Therefore it was proposed that this year, um,  err, we....pretty much....write and record some songs, hang out with some good company, see where we can wind up.

The we worked the next set-lists for coming shows.

Meeting adjourned.

Hoist Sail, we have two targets this week.

Dr Rock and I were driving back from a show.

He rated the night as a good one and I mentioned the work we'd done for that night, Bill & Mr Wizard doing extra rehearsal on certain bits, Rosie & me doing regular, ongoing set revisions, all of us working through stage commands and procedures, working out guitar changes and tunings.

Dr Rock was aghast at the amount of fiddling about that went into a set. 'That's too much work to have to do!' he said.

If the set worked, then wasn't it just the right amount of work to do?

Hmmm.....

Well that worked well. Big thanks to MH for all his hard work and to Wes for managing the sound so well.

In the last two shows we have gone acoustic and then embedded more instrumentation. Heavy Weather with Sax sounded great.

A good result indeed.

Thanks to everyone who joined us and shout outs to Mark T and Paula M for dropping by.

Thanks to Mr Hawke for joining us today, a long rehearsal as we start the work towards The Thing that we're doing.

That I haven't exactly mentioned.

That I may or may not mention. Depending.

I'm still of the opinion, the less you say, the more you know.

We try a lot of different stuff. Some of it involves Face Planting.

Face_c4462c_423238.jpg

That's why it's safer to talk about it afterwards.

We're working towards Some Things we're interested in. Late last year we were well into planning and brain-storming, but I didn't mention it, cos, well, I dunno.

I'm still a little reticent to say more than: there are some things we'd like to do, because they'll be worthwhile in the doing.

Today we made a great start. It's a big effort to master a catalogue of demanding material.

Some choice sonic moments today. As a multi-instrumentalist, Mr Hawke brought Sax, Flute, Guitar and Mandolin into the system today, filling out the sound.

Our first test is this weekend.

Then, brick upon brick, we work towards a show we'd like to do.

This year bodes well for contentment. There's no hurry, no rush, plenty of stuff to try; some might work. As it has ever been with us.

The joy is in the attempt.

Follow along when you feel, come along when it suits.

Safe Harbour/Rogue State gets nice review in France!

From 'Blues Again', the french Blues Magazine. I did the Google Translate to read it :-)
